Manchester City have decided how much money to ask Bayern Munich for before sanctioning the sale of Kyle Walker, according to a report.
Walker is keen to leave Man City for Bayern after the Bundesliga champions registered their interest in the defender, whose contract at the Etihad Stadium is only due to last until the end of the upcoming season.
Given that Bayern are prepared to offer Walker a longer contract than City would, the England international has become tempted by the opportunity to play in Germany.
In fact, it has been claimed that he has told Man City boss Pep Guardiola and some teammates that he wants to accept the move to Bayern.
There is also a belief that he has an agreement on personal terms lined up with his prospective next club. For them to sign him, though, they will still need to buy him out of the last year of his Man City contract.
Therefore, an update from Sky Sports News has revealed the asking price that Man City have set before they will allow Walker to leave.
According to the report, Man City value Walker at £13million. With their stance clear, they are ready to hold talks with Bayern while both teams are in Japan on a pre-season tour.
There have been suggestions that Bayern could send Benjamin Pavard in the opposite direction to Walker, although the claims have been conflicting with regards to the likelihood of that happening.
Instead, if it is to be a straight cash deal, Bayern now know what they will need to put on the table to tempt Man City.
Keeping that in mind, another option Man City have been linked with to replace Walker at right-back has been Achraf Hakimi from Paris Saint-Germain.
End of an era for Kyle Walker
Walker has made more than 250 appearances for Man City since joining them from Tottenham Hotspur in 2017. Bayern would be the first club outside England that he has represented if he was to end his Man City career now.
Still a regular feature in England squads, Walker is 33 years old but still has plenty to offer. With Man City only offering him a one-year extension to his current contract, though, he may prefer to opt for a new challenge.
Bayern are suggesting a two-year contract for Walker, which would essentially take him to the same point as a one-year renewal with Man City would. However, the difference is that the German giants’ proposal would include the option of a third year, meaning he could be there until 2026.
It has led Walker to lean towards that offer. And in fairness, going out as a treble winner would be the ideal way to bring the curtains down on his Man City career.
