The two highest-seeded players remaining in the Australian Open 2024 women’s singles are the WTA No.2 Aryna Sabalenka and the WTA No.4 Coco Gauff. Both qualified for the quarter-finals of the first Slam of the season, with convincing performances.

Gauff, who beat the Polish Magdalena Frech with a score of 6-1 6-2 in an hour and 3 minutes of play without allowing even a break point, dominated the match from every point of view, annihilating her opponent. Frech was never able to keep up with the rhythm of the baseline exchange imposed by the reigning US Open champion.

Aryna Sabalenka also had a very easy time, beating Amanda Anisimova 6-3 6-2. The match started outdoors then the roof was closed due to rain. The outcome of the match against the Belarusian, who finished in one hour and ten minutes, was never in question.
