Marc Rosset shows difference between Carlos Alcaraz and the rest of the ATP Tour

Carlos Alcaraz has dug a gulf between himself and the other players on the ATP Tour. With the young Spaniard there is also Jannik Sinner; both are destined for a great future, with no notable opponents on the horizon, except for legend Novak Djokovic.

Former Swiss tennis player Marc Rosset also thinks so, who, during an interview with L’Equipe, expressed his opinion on the two tennis players who are dominating the Tour in this 2024 season and on the absence at the moment of other players of the new generation at their level.

“The Spanish tennis player and the Italian tennis player will be protagonists for a long time, in a phase in which Novak Djokovic is necessarily in a downward phase of his career for reasons of age and injuries. Alcaraz and Sinner could have a highway ahead of them. Behind Sinner and Alcaraz, I find that there is an abysmal void, with players who are too stereotyped.

Alcaraz is now the only one who really does many different things and I think that he and Sinner could have a highway ahead of them. If the others do not immediately ask themselves the right questions about what to add to their game, they would not be right to say: We were not lucky, we arrived together with them,” explained Rosset.

For the semi-finalist of Roland Garros 1996, clearly beaten by Michael Stich on that occasion, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz have shown that they are a step ahead of the others, but it is not excluded that some player could explode in the near future. Sinner himself – he said – struggled to find the right path and had to change his entire team before starting to assert himself at high levels. Sinner won the Australian Open in January and is number 1 in the world, Carlos Alcaraz made a double achieved by few, conquering Roland Garros and Wimbledon in a few weeks.
