Pep Guardiola took a dig at Jack Grealish as he expressed his surprise at seeing the Manchester City star survive a knockout training drill.
WHAT HAPPENED?
The City boss put his players’ reflexes to the test by having them clap every time he bounced a ball off off the ground. If they clapped when he faked the bounce, they were eliminated. Grealish seemed to exceed the coach’s expectations, though, by staying in the game for a few rounds.
WHAT GUARDIOLA SAID TO GREALISH
Jack, you are here?!” Guardiola said with some surprise after many of his team-mates had been eliminated.
“Brainy,” Grealish responds.
“I didn’t expect [that]!” Guardiola then quips at the winger’s expense.
In the next round, however, a disappointed Grealish trudged off as he was knocked out after clapping when Guardiola didn’t bounce the ball.
WHAT NEXT FOR MAN CITY?
The Premier League champions will continue their pre-season tour of the United States with a match against AC Milan later this week, which will be followed by meetings with Guardiola’s former side Barcelona and then Chelsea.
