Eva Green has wardrobe malfunction at British Independent Film Awards as she nearly trips on her dress

Eva Green may well be having words with her stylist today after she almost tripped over on the red carpet last night.

The Bond Girl, was left rosy cheeked after struggling to walk in her outfit at the British Independent Film Awards.

While she looked stunning in the red and black Alexander McQueen ensemble, the tight fit of the garment along with its length made it hard to master the kind of saunter required for the occasion.

Eva is currently starring in Cracks, a film about love and obsession set in a 1930s British boarding school.

Luckily fellow Bond star Gemma Arterton was on hand to show the French actress how it’s done.

Gemma looked stunning in a classy black dress which she teamed with a pair of stiletto heels.

The night saw Daniel Day Lewis and Sir Michael Caine were honoured at the 12th annual ceremony at the The Brewery.

The two Oscar-winning actors are among the glittering A-list guest list who attend the event, hosted by Cold Feet star James Nesbitt.

Caine received the Variety Award, celebrating his long and versatile career, while Day Lewis was presented with the Richard Harris Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Film by an Actor.

Emily Blunt, Carey Mulligan, Sophie Okonedo and rising star Katie Jarvis were among the actresses in the running for the Best Actress Award. Mulligan scooped the award for her her film, An Education.

Tom Hardy won the Best Actor Award for Cronson, with Andy Serkis, Peter Capaldi and Sam Rockwell also nominated in the category.

Andrea Arnold’s Fish Tank, Armando Iannucci’s In The Loop, Duncan Jones’ Moon and Sam Taylor Wood’s Nowhere Boy all had several nominations including Best British Independent Film.

Science fiction thriller Moon ended up collecting the Best Film gong. The film offers a moving account of space worker Sam Bell’s lonely stint on a lunar base.

There was further success for Moon when Jones was crowned winner of The Douglas Hickox Award for best debut director.

The BIFAs, created in 1998 by Raindance Film Festival founder Elliot Grove to celebrate independently funded British movie-making, began as a low key event but have gathered momentum over the years, and now regularly boast a glamorous guestlist.
