But it is an excellent investment for the ATP that has made an agreement with the PIF Investment Fund to launch tennis in Arabia and make a significant business out of it.
But, as mentioned, this choice did not please many former players, players, media, insiders and fans and one of these is Andy Murray, who joked together with his countryman Liam Broady, giving his opinion without mincing words on the Six Kings Slam.
The 4-time Slam champion, on social media, used harsh words that leave no room for interpretation: “Only that it is not a film and you will not watch it because it is a tennis exhibition that does not interest anyone,” he wrote on X.
The exhibition in Riyadh
From 16 to 19 October, the very rich exhibition called Six Kings Slam will take place in Riyadh – Saudi Arabia. An event that will not award ATP points, but a generous prize pool to the six participants who will have guaranteed 1.5 million euros just for participating with the winner who will collect 6 million euros.
The names of the participants will obviously be top-tier and will be able to count on all the best tennis players around on the circuit. There will be Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev and Holger Rune.
This tournament will be included in the calendar in the week after the ATP Masters 1000 in Shanghai, China and in the week where the first indoor events of the end of the season are played in Europe. In the last few hours the tournament draw was also revealed, which will guarantee its spectators top-level matches, between champions who have already made history, such as Djokovic and Nadal, and others who are writing it right now.
