Andrei Vasilevski, a 32-year-old Belarusian, has a deep connection with Sabalenka beyond his coaching role. Vasilevski turned professional in 2009 and had a successful career in doubles. He won his first and only ATP doubles title at the 2021 Belgrade Open, partnering with Jonathan Erlich. However, he has been inactive since his last professional match in the 2022 Pau Challenger men’s doubles final, where he and Romain Arneodo were runners-up to Elliot Benchetrit and Eliakim Coulibaly.

“There was a really tough period where I was really happy to have him by my side, always cheering me up, always making sure that we are doing some fun stuff,” she said, in an interview with People. Reminiscing the time when she loosened the strings attached with tennis, she added, “I make sure I kind of forget about tennis and focus on the good things and enjoy my life. Even when things are going wrong in my career. So yeah, he was my biggest support and yeah, really happy to have him by my side.”

This bond between the two is evident in each of their interactions on and off the court. As she looks forward to attaining the second grand slam title of the season, it is highly expected that new surprises in her personal life would unveil as well.
