The two young tennis players have grabbed this milestone right at Wimbledon
Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner have achieved a record at Wimbledon that has only occurred once in the entire Open Era. The Spaniard and the Italian have reached at least the quarterfinals in the first three seasonal Slam events in the same calendar year as U23 tennis player. Only Pete Sampras and Jim Courier have previously managed to do so back in 1993. Now the goal, as soon as the London Slam is over and the Paris Olympics are over, could become that of making it four out of four at the US Open.
At the Australian Open the Italian prevailed over all the competition and won the first Major trophy of his career, while the Spaniard surrendered to Alexander Zverev right in the quarterfinals. At Roland Garros, Sinner and Alcaraz faced each other in the semifinals, giving life to another splendid battle of 5 sets with Carlitos – who went on to win the final title – the winner. At Wimbledon, the two tennis players also reached the quarterfinals. Jannik faced Daniil Medvedev while Carlitos played against Tommy Paul.
Sinner and Alcaraz, who won the first two Slam trophies this season, are ferrying the men’s Tour from the Big 3 era to the Next Gen Era.
