Carlos Alcaraz explains why trips to Ibiza are key to his outstanding performance

Alcaraz is very serious about his career but he also likes to often visit Ibiza.

Carlos Alcaraz admits he very much enjoys his trips to Ibiza and reveals he also considers them very important because he believes it is one of the keys to him performing well on the court.

Over the last two years, 21-year-old Alcaraz has achieved major success at a young age and he is widely known as one of the hardest workers and someone who is very strict and serious about his job. But apart from being fully committed to his career, there is another Alcaraz side – he likes to go to Ibiza from time to time.

However, those trips never come out of the blue as Alcaraz usually goes there to reward himself after a great result. Most recently, that happened after the 21-year-old won his first French Open title.

After switching off for a couple of days in Ibiza, Alcaraz started preparing for the grass season and he ended up successfully defending his Wimbledon title after ousting Novak Djokovic 6-2 6-2 7-6 (4) in the final.

But some still have issues with the 21-year-old’s trip to Ibiza. But Alcaraz doesn’t see anything bad and underlines he “does not want to be a slave tp tennis.”

“Well, I am very clear that in the end people also work for something. Not just speaking for myself, but in general. People work to allow themselves certain things and then enjoy them with their people. I am here living a dream, for me it is crazy to be able to play these types of tournaments, to be able to win them, but I also want to have time for myself,” Alcaraz told Relevo.

“I don’t want to feel like a slave to tennis and not have time for myself. Those little getaways to Ibiza, two or three nights with friends, to enjoy, to have time to rest, to have time for myself, I think it is fundamental and very necessary to then perform and come back to the court with batteries charged.”

In the last couple of years, Alcaraz got to know Spanish football star Reguilon and since then they have become good friends but also trip buddies.

When asked about their friendship and trips to Ibiza, Alcaraz revealed that he and Reguilon met for the first time before 2022 Wimbledon when the 27-year-old Spanish footballer was playing for Tottenham.

“Well, we’ve known each other for several years. I knew who he was, he started following me, we talked a little on the phone, and we met at the Mutua Madrid Open 2022 for the first time. The first dinner was here, at Wimbledon, when he was here at Tottenham before the tournament started in 2022, and from there we started to get along really well and now he’s one of the closest people I have,” Alcaraz said.

What Alcaraz’s agent said about the Spaniard’s trips to Ibiza?

After Alcaraz defeated Alexander Zverev in a five-set French Open final to become a champion at Roland Garros and also lift his third Slam title at the time, he went to Ibiza afterward to mentally recharge.

While Alcaraz was in Ibiza, his agent Albert Molina said he warned the 21-year-old what not to do during his trip there. When sharing that, agent Molina also revealed that one thing that concerns him about those trips is the fact that there are so many phones and cameras, which can lead to the 21-year-old being secretly filmed in certain situations that can be taken out of context.

“He didn’t want anyone. It scares me personally, but not because of Carlos. Because I know that the problem is that Carlos is very noble, it is not because of Carlos but because of the people he may have by his side and not because of his friends because they are good people,” Molina said on El Partidazo de COPE after the French Open.

“But hey, when you expose yourself so much outside, there are always people with a phone who can record something that may be taken out of context or may not be reality as it is. Because in the end a photo or a five-second video can convey things to you that are not real, lies. He is afraid that this will happen to him that it could be nailed to him at night in any situation of this type.”
