This Sunday Carlos Alcaraz joined his country’s historic list as the eighth player to win the Musketeers Cup.
“I’ve always said I’m very proud to be Spanish. Representing my flag, my country, all Spaniards, in the tournaments I go to, for me it’s a pride,” Alcaraz began his explanation, about a special trophy ceremony at Roland Garros.
“More here in Paris, of the few tournaments that play the anthem when winning,” confessed the native of El Palmar. “In the end this trophy is personal, it is my own, but it also goes to the whole country, to all my people, it is something amazing.
We have lived it many times with Rafa, but to live it in first person is something wonderful,” explained the three-time Grand Slam champion.

Carlos Alcaraz’s former coach Carlos Santos praised the World No.2: “There is nothing he has now that he didn’t do at that time, except his serve, which has improved him a lot, because he has more strength and is taller. Before he was a short, pale boy, very skinny and very skilled. But he is a reflection of what he was, he attracted a lot of attention everywhere we went. Being the smallest, he won in higher categories.”
Following his victories in New York and London, Carlos Alcaraz got tattoos to celebrate his achievements at the US Open and Wimbledon, so Roland Garros will also have a mark on his skin.
