“I feel better. The training is going quite well and without any discomfort, but I still have a bit of fear. It will take some time for it to disappear. I’m still wearing the compression bandage, I’m training with it and I’ll play like this. It doesn’t mean that my arm hurts or that I feel sick: I’m using it as a precaution and I know it helps. My physiotherapist Juanjo Moreno tells me that he has benefits. Anything we can put or do on my forearm that helps me feel mentally relieved, I will do.”
These were the words of Carlitos Alcaraz regarding his recovery from his forearm injury, in an interview given to Marca. Alcaraz will play already on Sunday at the Roland Garros. The Spaniard will appear as one of the favorites to win the Parisian tournament but there are doubts about his physical condition. Alcaraz, who is continuing to deal with forearm discomfort despite having also missed the Internazionali BNL d’Italia event, revealed how he feels significantly better than at the Mutua Madrid Open and spoke about his training methods in recent days.
“I am working hard, together with my team we have followed the guidelines very well. Last week I started hitting 80 straights in practice, the shots were weak. The day I hit 120 I hit with a little more intensity. We were cautious, no matter how good the feelings were. We preferred to go little by little and I think it was good for my forearm,” he analyzed.
In the first round of the Roland Garros, Alcaraz will face a tennis player from the qualifiers, or a lucky loser. Afterwards here is the possibility of challenging against the British Jack Draper. The difficulty will increase in a possible 3rd round, where the 21 year old could cross Sebastian Korda. In the 4th round, Carlitos could meet Ben Shelton or Felix Auger Aliassime. In the quarter-finals there could probably be one between Stefanos Tsitsipas and Andrey Rublev, who recently beat him in Madrid, before winning his historic second ATP Masters 1000. Having reached the semi-final, here is the challenge that everyone is waiting for with Jannik Sinner. Assuming that both reach this possible semi-final, it would certainly be the most awaited and desired match by their many fans.
