Darts sensation Luke Littler has admitted that he would love to ‘go and get’ Napoli striker Victor Osimhen if he was calling the shots at his beloved Manchester United.
If only Manchester United’s recruitment department hit the target with as much regularity as the Red Devils fanatic who captured the hearts and minds of the British public while storming into the final of the PDC Darts World Championship this week.
Luke Littler, who was only 16 months old when United defeated Chelsea to claim the 2008 Champions League title in Moscow, was quizzed about his lifelong adoration of the underperforming Old Trafford outfit during a Sky Sports interview in the aftermath of Wednesday’s narrow defeat by Luke Humphries at Ally Pally.
And, when the subject turned to his dream signing, there was one name which simply leapt to mind.

“We’ve just signed Rasmus Hojlund for loads of money,” Littler smiles. “But I’d probably go and get (Victor) Osimhen from Napoli. One of the big ones.”
Unfortunately for Man United, Napoli were quick to shut the door on a potential move for Osimhen over the summer. The Nigeria interantional, who established himself as one of the world’s finest marksmen when firing the Partenopei to their first Scudetto since Diego Maradona’s heyday, soon moved out of United’s reach after Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis insisted that a player who joined from Lille for a cool £60 million will be going nowhere for a penny less than 200 million euros these days.
With only eight goals in 18 games this term, Osimhen looks destined to fall well short of his eye-watering tally of 31 from 2022/23, however, with he and the rest of the Napoli squad struggling to match last season’s sky-high standards.

Littler, meanwhile, has a visit to Old Trafford to look forward to. At least one Manchester United fan has had a happy couple of weeks.
“It’s been crazy. I was watching (United) on the TV and now they watch me on the TV as well! It’s crazy that they’re watching me,” Littler tells the BBC, receiving messages of support from the likes of Rio Ferdinand, Jonny Evans and Gary Neville before going head-to-head with Humphries.
“My girlfriend got us a stadium tour for two people, so I’ll be doing that when we can.”
