ERLING HAALAND CONTRACT UPDATE: MANCHESTER CITY ‘CONSIDERING’ FRESH APPROACH

Manchester City are currently ‘considering’ make a contract renewal offer to Erling Haaland and his representatives, according to new reports.

The 23-year-old Norway international penned a five-year contract to keep himself at the Etihad Stadium until 2027 at the earliest, but after a record-breaking debut season in sky blue, there is a clear intention from City to retain value and extend his deal further.

That comes amid continued talk of interest from Real Madrid, despite Los Blancos’ expected capture of France international superstar Kylian Mbappe this summer, with Etihad bosses taking steps towards tying down their own football mega-star in the coming months.

Now according to the well-informed journalist Lu Martín, speaking to Què T’hi Jugues, Manchester City are currently ‘considering offering’ a contract renewal to their superstar striker Erling Haaland.

It was reported back in October by MailSport’s Jack Gaughan that Manchester City were planning contract talks with Haaland in the hope of extending his commitment to the Etihad Stadium to 2028 and beyond.

At the time, it was reported that fresh terms for the Norwegian forward would see an increase to his £400,000-a-week Manchester City wages plus substantial bonuses embedded into any new agreement.

At present, there remains some level of uncertainty surrounding the possibility of a release clause involved in Erling Haaland’s contract, with the understanding being that one such clause was removed when Pep Guardiola extended his own deal in Autumn 2022.
