Jannik Sinner’s debut at Wimbledon was more complicated than expected

Jannik Sinner’s debut at Wimbledon was perhaps more complicated than expected, but the South Tyrolean re-established the hierarchies after losing the third set and controlled without further ado both the match and the score.
Yannick Hanfmann worried the Italian in the second and in the third part finding incredible plays; then Sinner raised the level and reached Matteo Berrettini in the second round. The two faced each other on one occasion – at the Masters 1000 in Toronto in 2023 – and Sinner dominated the match by closing 6-4, 6-3.
Berrettini, however, on the grass has achieved the best results in his career, as evidenced by the historic final of Wimbledon 2021.

“In the first round the courts are a bit more slippery so you have to be a little more careful.
Then with the roof closed it got a little drier, a little easier. However this is the grass, you can not always control everything and must be accepted. You also have to be patient,” Jannik Sinner said at the press conference and in the words reported by Eurosport.
