The Italian talked about many topics in the post-victory press conference in Miami, one of which concerns his next goals
“I don’t have much time to adapt to the clay courts because at the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters I imagine we will start training on Thursday for the first time. So not even a week to get used to it.
Usually there are always some strange results in Monaco, so let’s see what happens this year. The main objective is certainly the Roland Garros. Then there is the Internazionali BNL d’Italia in Rome which for me above all is a really, really important tournament.
Playing with the home crowd is always fantastic. That’s all, I’m very relaxed. I feel like I learned a lot of things from last year and I know what I can do better. Physically I am in a different shape than in 2023 and the earth is very physical. We’ll see how it goes.”
Roland Garros and Rome: these are the next two great goals that Jannik Sinner wants to pursue. Two extremely important tournaments for the young Italian, for different reasons.
Sinner doesn’t want to sit back in the slightest and always wants to raise his ambitions. Enjoy the moment and the victories, yes, but then go straight back to work to prepare for the next commitments. An aspect that he indirectly confirmed in the press conference after the triumph in Miami, in which he underlined how he is ready to project himself onto clay tournaments.
“This is what I feel: I’ve improved a lot. After Australia, I live these moments for three or four days, then I go back to work. It was the same in Rotterdam and it will be the same here, because you don’t have time to enjoy yourself. I’m like that, because maybe there are players who enjoy themselves a little longer. I know that I don’t have much time to prepare for Monaco, the next goal. I have to try to get familiar with the land straight away,” he explained.
On his parents’ presence in tournaments, Jannik said: “They will continue to live their life, and I will live my life! My father had come to Indian Wells. There are three-four tournaments they could come to. Munich, Rome, I’ll play Vienna and then the Finals in Turin. T
hey won’t travel much, at least until now. I know them, there’s their grandmother and grandfather who are now of a certain age and who they want to be close to
We have family in that house. Personally, I miss spending time with my parents a bit, because I left home when I was 13-14. So I didn’t have much time with them. I hope I can fix it in the future, but if they’re happy I’m happy too.”

“It definitely means a lot to me. Although it is more important to think about the great performances in the semi-final and final. Being number 2 is a fantastic feeling. I never thought I would get to this point. I come from a very normal family.
My father is still working, as is my mother.For me sport is one thing and life is another. I am very happy to be in this position. I’m just enjoying every moment. They are special days to win a tournament,” said Sinner at the press conference after beating Dimitrov and winning the Miami Open.
The Italian then talked about the ability to manage these types of situations, which naturally add further pressure.
“Maybe in the future I will manage them even better, I don’t know. But my personality today is really trying to stay calm. On the other hand you must never sit down, you must attack. If I lose the game by attacking and trying to win it, that’s better for me than standing back and seeing what might happen. I have to stay mentally focused in every situation. A lot can happen on the court,” he explained.
A goal not set at the beginning of the season The incredible result of the number 2, never achieved by other Italian players in the history of tennis, was not among the objectives set so quickly by the 22-year-old Italian and his staff.
“I certainly didn’t expect it, I’d be lying if I told you otherwise. I felt ready to do well this year, because I had a great offseason and a great season finale last year. Beating Novak twice was important for me. There were weeks where I was really consistent.
As for me, I felt ready to achieve great results. Every tournament I entered I felt I had a good solution to play well. I also love playing on hard courts, which gives me this extra confidence,” he said.
