In the post-match interview, Alex Corretja asked Sinner about the difficulties he had in the first set. Difficulties also linked to the fact that Moutet did not give the Italian champion many points of reference, especially in dropshots and volleys.
“It was tough for me today. Moutet played very well in the first set, I also had chances but in the important points he always played better than me. I had to fix a few things. It should be underlined that he played a great tournament. The atmosphere in which the match was played was extraordinary,” told Sinner.
Corretja then underlined Sinner’s ability to keep his emotions under control when the crowd at the Philippe Chatrier was cheering for the French player.
“I was thinking about myself, I wasn’t thinking about the score, I was thinking about one point at a time. Maybe on the outside I give this feeling of always knowing how to control my emotions but the public was very fair and impartial. Obviously it would have been strange if they had all been here for me. It’s very nice to play in the evening session on such a special court and the atmosphere was amazing,” he explained.

“Moutet has a different tennis style than most of his opponents, plus he is a left-handed player and it is not often that you play against left-handed players, but I am satisfied to continue my run,” analyzed Sinner.
