The Spanish champion wins his third career Slam
Under the Eiffel Tower, in a setting as striking as it is evocative, Carlos Alcaraz played his first international tournament at the age of 12. Through that experience and the feats that turned his idol Rafael Nadal into a legend in Paris, the Spaniard fell in love with Roland Garros and clay court tennis.
After each school day, Alcaraz would rush home to turn on the television and enjoy hours of intense battles on Court Philippe-Chatrier and Court Suzanne-Lenglen. At night, with his head on the pillow, he would project in his mind his image with the famous Musketeers’ Cup in his arms, thinking of a fate capable of devising marvelous scenarios.
Fate, however, is tied to a number of external factors acting on a person, and Alcaraz realized early on that he would have to set aside certain ideas to leave room for destiny. Fate allows no shortcuts and involves the active participation of the person concerned in the realization of a project: in his case, a goal.
Alcaraz built his destiny day after day by making an infinite number of sacrifices and today – once again – he can go back to his little room, smile, daydream and repeat to himself, “I did it!” In a short interview after the French Open final, Juan Carlos Ferrero reflected on Carlos Alcaraz’s triumph.

Proof of this were the words collected by Marca shortly after the Murcia native was proclaimed champion at Roland Garros 2024. “He still has a lot of room for improvement and we will continue working on it. He is only 21 years old. It is clear that we will ask him to win in Australia, which is a nice goal,” said the coach.
