The Canadian tennis player advised haters to get a life, in a harsh outburst on Instagram
Leylah Fernandez’s path at Roland Garros stopped in the third round, in her match against Ons Jabeur. The previous match saw the Canadian tennis player win against Wang Xiyu in a match stopped due to rain. During one of these breaks, Leylah published a video on her Instagram account where she harshly attacked the haters who write vulgar comments on social media. Fernandez said how she laughs at them, advising them to get an avita.
“My challenge was suspended due to the rain and in the meantime I’ll tell you about the life of a tennis player in a video. Whether you win or lose, hateful comments practically always arrive and it’s not easy, especially at the beginning. With the Over the years I have learned to manage these moments and I also have to thank my sister for this, she is the younger sister but in this situation she behaved as I should have done. Often the messages that come to me after a victory are so negative that it’s like I lost, the only thing I have to do is smile and read those messages too. My sister told me: ‘They are people who don’t have a life, laugh at them and that’s it,’ ” she told.
Leylah had her exploits in 2021 with the final then lost to Emma Raducanu at the US Open. Since then both tennis players have had a decline. The British one is more sensational while the current 21-year-old Canadian has experienced several ups and downs, showing her talent and still not leaving the Top-100.
No great exploits like the one in New York but some noteworthy results. However, in recent days Leylah has risen to prominence for her social outburst against haters and, even if she doesn’t refer to it, against those who insult her for her own achievements. In recent months several athletes have denounced this plague which concerns bettors who vent their frustration against athletes and abuse social insults.
