Man City make Joao Cancelo transfer decision as Pep Guardiola told dream £51m signing

It remains to be seen whether Manchester City will complete any deals in the summer transfer window with rumours that some players could be heading towards the exit door

Manchester City have been quiet in the summer transfer window so far.

Despite links with some players, most rumours circling the Etihad Stadium has consisted of those players that could be leaving rather than coming in. Some players have returned to pre-season training this week while others are still representing their countries in the Euro 2024 and Copa America respectively.

Manuel Akanji is set to link up with the squad soon after Switzerland lost 5-3 in a penalty shootout against England in the quarter-finals. Meanwhile, Rodri is also still in with a chance of glory as Spain progressed to the Euro final.

Joao Cancelo fee reduced

According to Italian publication Calcio Mercato, City have reduced Joao Cancelo’s asking price. It is said to have gone down to £21- 25m (€25-30m) from £59m (€70m).

Barcelona are known to be interested in his signature, however, the initial asking price of £59m had put the Spanish giants from sealing a permanent transfer and were looking for another loan move. The report also adds that the Portugal international has been offered to Juventus and Inter ‘in the last few days.’
