Man City prepared to wait to beat Liverpool and Man Utd to half-price Bayern Munich star

Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich is a man in demand and all three of Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool are keen on landing his signature – but not until the summer

Manchester City are willing to wait until the summer before trying to sign Bayern Munich ace Joshua Kimmich in a bid to get him on the cheap.

The 28-year-old is high on Pep Guardiola’s transfer wishlist, as per the Daily Star, but the reigning champions are not alone in their interest. Two of City’s main Premier League rivals, Manchester United and Liverpool, are also believed to be keeping tabs on Kimmich, who has now been at the Allianz Arena for just shy of a decade.

Currently, the German giants are demanding a minimum of £50million before parting ways with Kimmich. However, by the time the summer rolls around, he’ll have just one year left to run on his deal and Bayern’s asking price could drop to £25m.

Thomas Tuchel’s side have all but lost hope of tying Kimmich down to an extension, meaning the longer he remains at the club the more Bayern become cornered into selling him on the cheap to prevent losing him on a free in a year-and-a-half.

City are not in any real hurry to bolster either their midfield or defence, meaning they can comfortably wait until the summer before trying to land Kimmich’s signature. Of course, were either United or Liverpool to try and pry him away from Bayern this month, City would have to line up alternative targets.

With that being said, last season’s Champions League winners do boast an advantage given Kimmich has already worked with Guardiola back when the City boss was in the Bayern hot seat.

Some of Kimmich’s best performances for the Bavarians came under the watchful eye of Guardiola, which would suggest that the Germany international would be more than happy to reunite with his old boss at the Etihad.

Kimmich’s versatility has long made him one of the most admired players on the continent. The former Vfb Stuttgart is just as comfortable at right-back as he is when deployed as a central defensive midfielder, which is a testament to his supreme technical ability.
