A new BBC One Christmas special airing this December will see legendary TV chef and baker Mary Berry journey to the Scottish Highlands, where she will cook festive recipes with Scots celebrities.

A new Christmas special starring Mary Berry set in the Scottish Highlands has been announced and will air on BBC this December.
Mary Berry’s Highland Christmas will see the beloved food journalist and chef journey to her mother’s homeland of Scotland for a winter break, where she will reflect on her childhood Christmases and festive traditions while cooking seasonal recipes with a Scottish twist.
Among the dishes that Mary will serve up are canapes made with Scottish smoked salmon, Highland beef pie, and kedgeree. She will also put together mulled wine and even an edible wreath, which she describes as “an alternative to Christmas pudding”.
Alongside Mary, the special will feature such as Andy Murray, Emeli Sandé, and Iain Stirling, who will cook recipes alongside the legendary cook and baker.
Mary Berry’s Highland Christmas will also see Mary take her first journey on the iconic Jacobite Steam train, as well as search for reindeer in their natural habitat.
Speaking to the BBC about what she hopes viewers get out of the special, Mary commented: “I want them to take away the warmth of Scotland. The show is all about lovely warming dishes and an emphasis on family and including the traditions and the delicious food of Scotland.
“People will really feel the warmth from the whole programme, and in the past, I have made recipes just for the couple of days over Christmas, while these can in fact, be enjoyed at anytime.”
Asked about filming in the Scottish Highlands, she continued: “Oh I’ve loved it, we have had some wonderful adventures in different parts of Scotland and into the Highlands. We have had this cold weather that we’re having but everybody is hardy in Scotland, you just dress for it.
