Kyrgios asked how he would try to beat Alcaraz.
Nick Kyrgios has the highest possible opinion on Carlos Alcaraz’s game but believes the Spaniard is beatable and claims he has an idea of how he could pull it off.
After winning his first French Open title and improving to three Grand Slams, Alcaraz also defended his Wimbledon title in a highly impressive way after ousting Novak Djokovic in the final 6-2 6-2 7-6 (4).
En route to winning the last two Slams, Alcaraz also had wins over the likes of Jannik Sinner, Daniil Medvedev and Alexander Zverev.
In the last decade and a half, there were many times when Djokovic would completely annihilate his opponent in the latter stages of a Slam tournament. But this time, exactly that happened to the record 24-time Grand Slam champion as whatever he sent Alcaraz’s way, the Spaniard had a prepared response.
Also, Djokovic entered the 2023 Wimbledon edition without a loss at The Championships since 2018 and he was widely considered the most dominant player on grass. But Djokovic’s Wimbledon reign has since ended after Alcaraz beat him in back-to-back finals at The All England Club.
Kyrgios asked how he would try to beat Alcaraz
Asked if he could beat Alcaraz, Kyrgios explained that he believes it is possible and revealed that he would go big on his serve and also try different variations to try to throw the now four-time Grand Slam champion off his game.
“Incredible talent. Incredible athlete & incredible personality. You need to out-serve him. I would serve how I serve, and would try and break his rhythm as much as possible, hit return and come in, dropshots, 2 first-serves, completely take the racket out of his hands, he is incredible when front running. Talent and creativity comes out – just ideas,” Kyrgios explained.
Meanwhile, Kyrgios is preparing for a tennis comeback after not playing since last year’s June due to wrist surgery.
In his message from Wimbledon, Kyrgios admitted that he absolutely loves working in tennis broadcast but also noted that there is still desire and motivation to do some big things as a pro player
