The dream of a lifetime has been achieved: after winning the gold medal at the Paris Olympic Games, Novak Djokovic took a short break before returning to training to prepare for the season on American hard courts. But the season has not gone as well as the Serbian champion had hoped, who now risks not qualifying for the ATP Finals in Turin.
Nole decided to participate directly in the US Open, giving up on the attempt to defend his title at the Cincinnati Open, but things did not go according to plan. He in fact surrendered in the third round to Alexei Popyrin, playing an up-and-down match that did not live up to expectations.
