While many around the world were nursing a hangover, Hilary Duff embraced the new year with gusto on Sunday.
The Younger actress – sporting a $238 ViX ‘Burgundy Bohemian’ bikini – hit the beach for ocean fun with friends while on holiday on the Hawaiian island of Kauai.
She even enjoyed a surf lesson and managed to show off her impressive skills while riding waves on her board.

She found time to share an upbeat message with her fans on Saturday before ringing in the New Year.
She shared a message in the sand read: ‘Everything is going to be awesome’.

The sunshine break is quite the change of scene for Hilary.
She celebrated Christmas in the snow with her son in Canada this year.
‘Feeling so lucky to be in Canada to have a white Christmas,’ she told her fans at the time.
Hilary is heading into 2017 single after splitting from Jason Walsh in November.
A source told People magazine at the time: ‘They weren’t on the same page. He wants to move to New York, but her life is in Los Angeles.’
The news came after the star – who was previously married to Mike Comrie – admitted she is scared of being with the same person forever.

She shared: ‘I have dreams and aspirations, but I’ve never really been one of those people who has set dates: ‘I’m this age, so this, this and this needs to happen.’ That’s just not really realistic. I have a kid.
‘My life is very fully, so I feel blessed and lucky. There are still things I want to do and experiences I want to have, and maybe more kids, but it’s not like it needs to happen at this time and I need to be married. All those pressures need to go away. Plus, the idea of being with one person forever is too scary to think about.’
However, the blonde beauty would consider getting married again if her partner wanted to.

She added: ‘I don’t feel the need to get married again. As much as I was ready and excited, you’re like, ‘Oh, next step: We get married.’ That’s kind of the traditional person I’m talking about that’s inside of me. But I don’t feel the need. I got to have the experience and it was awesome. So, I guess if it mattered to someone else that much, I would consider it …
‘Marriage is a sacred thing, obviously. It’s something to be taken very seriously, and I was so happy to be married. I think that I was in a very successful marriage for a long time … I think we handled [the split] very consciously and with a lot of love. But marriage is sacred and marriage is not for everyone.’
