There’s more to Aryna Sabalenka than what meets the eye! The Australian Open champion earned her maiden US Open title this year, adding a third major victory in her bag and ending the grand slam events of the year with a bang! However, while walking the road to success, Sabalenka, known for her powerful groundstrokes and aggressive play style, has cracked the code on how to “connect” with her fans. Sharing how she channeled her lively spirit, sunny disposition, and fun banter in a particular direction, the Belarusian revealed what drove her to reveal her true self off the court!

We have all witnessed Aryna Sabalenka’s quirky humor in different interviews, be it her accidental cursing, revealing her late-night culinary massacre before a match, or sharing her random thoughts about ‘burrito’ while playing tennis. What added more to this was the additional doses of her entertaining posts and reels on Instagram. Her latest post about how she spent the night after winning the US Open title by dancing, having fun during photoshoots, and interviews, and drinking in her trophy further hints at the same. On September 8, Aryna Sabalenka appeared for an episode with the WTA Insider Podcast, where the interviewer asked her how she turned fans’ perspective of her being a “power player,” to someone they love and adore. “Do you think things have changed on how you are perceived, or the love that you feel on the court, do you feel that?” the host further asked. The 26-year-old responded, “In the beginning, nobody really knew me. I think what they saw was an aggressive girl on-court. Most of the times I was getting crazy on-court and they thought probably I’m completely nuts.”

Furthermore, Sabalenka emphasized how it compelled her to reveal the other side of her nature, stating, “It started to feel like I have to use my social media to show who I am for real.” Sabalenka did not hold back from admitting her fierce display of game on-court and highlighted how being a fighter is her dream and her motto in life. She explained, “That’s why I am getting so frustrated in crazy on-court. And I felt like I had to show them real Aryna and probably the one they will feel connected to. And they will understand that I am not that crazy, actually.”

However, the Belarusian corrected herself and added that she is “crazy,” but in a “good way.” Besides, she confessed her happiness at how revealing her true self on social media worked out for her, enabling fans to feel connected with her, ultimately attracting more support from people. However, apart from trying to connect deeply with fans, she frequently inspires them with her motivating speech, a glimpse of which we saw after her victory in New York.

In 2023, Aryna Sabalenka couldn’t get past Coco Gauff in the finals in New York, facing a loss that deeply scarred her as she broke down to tears after the match. But Aryna took an oath to revive herself and won against Jessica Pegula this year. Talking about her journey during her victory speech, Sabalenka shared her wisdom with fans with a special message. “I remember all those stuff, losses in the past here and, and you know, just, it’s gonna sound easy but never give up on your dream and just keep, keep trying, keep working hard.”

She further added how working hard and sacrificing for dreams will certainly help everyone achieve success one day. Aryna Sabalenka is “proud” of herself and now wants to enjoy this accomplishment with joy and happiness. And by sharing her true self, Sabalenka has also built a stronger bond with her audience, cementing her position as a fan favorite in the tennis world!
