What was suspected quite seriously after Wednesday’s injury to the Romanian Simona Halep, who had to withdraw from the Trophee Clarins tournament in Paris in the first round, was confirmed on Saturday evening with the display of the start list from WTA Rabat.

Simona Halep will not start the WTA tournament in the capital of Morocco, Rabat, clay tournament type 250, after serious knee problems made her drop out in the first round in Paris on Wednesday against the American McCartney Kessler, ranked 123 WTA.

Halep had won the first set 7-5, was leading in the second set 3-2, but could not continue due to acute pain. Along with Halep, Jaqueline Cristian or Bianca Andreescu also withdrew from the main draw, as well as Greet Minnen and Paula Badosa.

Earlier this week it was revealed that the double Grand Slam champion had received a wild-card for the competition in Rabat. The main favorite in Rabat is the Chinese Yue Yuan, who will face an athlete from the qualifications in the first round.
