Tennis Interviews Novak Djokovic explains why ATP Tour needs Nick Kyrgios

The Serbian champion talked about the Australian tennis player, on the eve of the Wimbledon final

Among the colleagues who hope that Nick Kyrgios will soon return to the court there is also Novak Djokovic, who talked – during the post-semifinal press conference against Lorenzo Musetti at Wimbledon – about their relationship and mutual respect between them. The Serbian expressed his opinion on the Australian tennis player, his opponent in the 2022 Wimbledon final.

“We trained a few days ago and he showed a great level of serve. He told me he could return to the US Open, but I don’t know if he was joking, even though I saw him hit the ball like always. He’s very talented, he’s very good, he told me that his wrist bothers him especially with the serve, but he’s increasing the loads, intensity and speed. He’s close to his goal, and it’s good to see him full of life and energy. He won’t know how his wrist reacts until he plays a tournament, so I hope he comes back soon, the Tour needs him,” he explained.

There is therefore no date for the actual return to the court of the former ATP number 13, but the hope is to see him light up the courts with his play again. The Australian tennis player is very active off the court, starring in many television shows and podcasts related to the world of tennis.

A series of serious injuries, the last of which was to the wrist, have however reduced his appearances on the field to the bone, given that in the last two seasons the 29-year-old has played only one match, in June 2023. A significant absence from the circuit for the talent born in Canberra, a whimsical player capable of putting on a show and entertaining the public with his spectacular talent and a significant dose of madness.
