Travis Kelce discusses superstitions after Patrick Mahomes’ underwear theory went viral

Issue became a discussion ahead of the Super Bowl on Sunday

Travis Kelce, amidst preparations for the Kansas City Chiefs face-off with the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl 58, humorously distanced himself from superstitions during Wednesday’s press conference.

Responding to inquiries about pre-game rituals, Kelce was his usual quick-witted self.

“I don’t think I’m superstitious. I like to live my life a certain way so I can get good things to happen to me. I’m not wearing the same underwear or something like that,” Kelce joked.

This was the tight end subtly poking fun at teammate Patrick Mahomes.

Kelce‘s jest referenced Mahomes‘ revelation on the ManningCast, where he disclosed wearing a specific pair of red underwear, gifted by his wife, for over 100 consecutive games.

Despite the absurdity, the two-time NFL MVP defended his practice, citing its association with his winning streak.

Does Travis Kelce have any of his own rituals?

While Kelce disavowed superstitions, he shared his own game-day ritual of donning a wristband on his left hand, which originated in 2020 during a standout season and has since become customary.

Despite his football accolades, Kelce‘s personal life garners attention, notably his relationship with global sensation Taylor Swift.

During the press conference, Kelce was asked repeatedly about Swift and potential engagement plans, to which he redirected focus to the impending Super Bowl clash with the San Francisco 49ers.
With the spotlight on Allegiant Stadium for the Super Bowl 58 showdown on Sunday, February 11, at 6:30 PM ET, anticipation mounts for both the game’s outcome and the potential presence of Taylor Swift, underscoring the convergence of sports and entertainment on this grand stage.
