What did Harry Styles whisper on X Factor? Matt Cardle’s confession about former One Direction star’s 2010 remark on the show explored
Harry Styles was first seen as a solo artist on Season 7 of X Factor. Zayn Malik, Liam Payne and Loius Tomlinson also gave solo performances. However, they were rejected before the Judges’ Houses round. The judges decided to put them in a group, which led to the creation of One Direction.
Harry and his team made it to the semi-finals with Matt Cardle, who finished as the winner, following which, Styles was seen whispering in Cardle’s ear:
“Think of how much p***y you’re going to get.”
The next day Cardle confirmed to This Morning that Harry Styles had whispered something in his ear at the close of the final night.
Matt Cardle talked about Harry Styles’s comment while they were on stage for the finale. Cardle was asked about Styles’s words by hosts Holly and Phil. He said:
“He’s [Harry Styles] a cheeky boy, he’s young. He was being cheeky.”
Cardle didn’t provide clarification on the comment as he promoted his song, When We Collide. He urged fans to not dismiss his song because of its links to X-Factor. He said:
“I hope people don’t hate on it because it’s affiliated with X Factor. I want people to see the song for what it is.”
It appears that Cardle has remained friends with Harry Styles even after X Factor. Cardle also shared his views when One Direction to take a hiatus after five years of producing music together. He told Lorraine in 2015:
“I think they deserve a break.”
He explained:
“They’ve been working tirelessly for five years. They just haven’t stopped. Why not take a break?
Cardle revealed that he met the One Directioners when they were “16-19.” He added that they need “to chill” and “be kids again for a bit.” He added:
After Zayn Malik announced his departure from the group, Cardle wished well for each of them. He said:
“I can’t wait to hear any of their solo stuff actually. I think they’re all going to do great.”
In 2014, Cardle revealed to fans that he will take some time off to enter rehab. Following the announcement, Harry Styles took to Twitter to send his well wishes. He tagged Cardle and wrote:
“See you soon brother.”
Matt Cardle has focused on his recovery from drug addiction and feeling healthier. He told the Sun in 2018 that his addictions problems stemmed from “frustrations in his career. He shared his experience of addiction with his song, Purple Canyon.
Fourteen years later, Harry Styles has become one of the biggest pop stars of the modern times. He has also opted for acting roles, like in Don’t Worry Darling and My Policeman.As for Matt, he released his last EP Purple Canyon in 2022 and was cast as Shakespeare in the Ireland and UK tour of & Juliet in July.
