We remind you that the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne decided to reduce, to a period of nine months, the four-year suspension that Simona Halep had initially received. This decision was taken on March 5, 2024.
What gains has Simona Halep made since returning to the tennis court
On March 5, 2024, Simona Halep received the news that all tennis lovers were waiting for. Constanțanca won the right to return to the field, at the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, which decided to reduce his suspension from four years to a period of only nine months.
Thus, after an absence of about a year and a half, the Constanta player returned to the circuit, and everyone had high expectations from her. However, after approximately three months since the decision received from CAS, Simona Halep’s situation is not much changed compared to the period during which she was suspended in the doping case in which she was involved.
Simona Halep seems non-existent in the circuit and has not managed to enter the WTA TOP 1000 for now. At the same time, the Romanian experienced several disappointments due to the fact that she did not receive wild cards at several tournaments where she hoped to play.
Practically, Simona Halep managed to play only one match, in Miami, against Paola Badosa, which she lost. The Romanian was invited to the main panel of the competition and for the match played she collected exactly 24,336 dollars.
This is the only amount of money that the former WTA ranking leader has collected since returning to the circuit. Simona Halep also accepted a wild-card, at Trophee Clarins, a WTA 125 level competition, but she dropped out in the 1st round due to an injury. This tournament does not provide prizes for this phase of the competition.
