Aryna Sabalenka made her debut at the WTA Washington with more trouble than expected against Kamila Rakhimova, as the Belarusian ended up dropping a set to get past the first round (7-5 4-6 6-4). The tournament’s number 1 needed to react strongly to the rise in level from a rival who found weaknesses in her opponent’s game. However, Sabalenka woke up to find herself already in the quarterfinals, where she will face Azarenka or Wang.
