Coco Gauff is embracing her star status as one of the world’s most talented women’s tennis players and the fandom that comes with it.

As the American prepares to return to Wimbledon – where she made the headlines at the age of just 15 by reaching the third round – Gauff’s generosity made the headlines.

Coco Gauff thrills fan by fulfilling his dream in touching encounter

In a heartwarming encounter last week, Gauff spent some time meeting one of her superfans in Germany, a young boy named Maurice, after he contacted her hitting partner Jarmere Jenkins on social media.

Maurice introduced himself during Gauff’s autograph session on Wednesday and had a day to remember: “This was my dream. I’m so happy,” the young fan said.

Gauff reflected on her encounter with the youngster and admitted she got emotional when he spoke to her about his adoration for her.

“He was very shy at first and I could see that he was starting to get emotional and I was starting to cry,” Gauff said. “Luckily, no tear fell, his eyes just watered. But if a tear fell I would have cried because it’s just amazing how much what you do can have an impact on someone.

“The fact that he feels so happy for me just to say hello, just gave me so much emotion and it’s why I do it. His mom was there and she was really happy. Just for me to give someone that joy, I don’t know what his trials are in his life, just for me to have an impact in that way means a lot to me.”

Coco Gauff gives a fan a special gift

A Twitter user recently took to her social media handle to share a sketch of the world No.2, captioning the post: “Likes and rts are appreciated!!! Hope Coco can see this.”

The 20-year-old reshared the post and was clearly impressed by the drawing. Gauff replied saying: “This is amazing! so talented! Thank you.”

Gauff has also shown her willingness to give something back – quite literally – to her fans in the past when they have gone out of their way to gift something to the tennis sensation.

The American was asked about a friendship bracelet she received from a fan and without prompting gave them one of her signature headbands that she wears during games.

“A little girl gave me this bracelet. I used to make these when I was younger, so it’s giving me flashbacks, and we kinda traded,” Gauff told The Tennis Channel. “I gave her my headband for the bracelet. She didn’t ask for the headband, but there’s no point in taking it without giving something in return.
