Coco Gauff’s mother proud of her daughter ahead of Wimbledon challenge

Struggled at last season’s tournament

Coco Gauff is eager to overcome past challenges as she gears up for this year’s Wimbledon. As her opening match against Caroline Dolehide approaches, she took a moment to reflect on her journey.

The young tennis star recalled both her triumphs and the tough times that nearly broke her spirit, taking pride in her growth and resilience.

Recently, Gauff revisited a difficult period from last year. Wimbledon’s official Instagram account highlighted her thoughts on overcoming setbacks.

Her mother, Candi Gauff, proudly shared the post on her Instagram story, adding multiple heart emojis to express her pride.

Coco has credited her mother for playing a crucial role in her career, providing support and keeping her grounded, especially during challenging moments.

“I wish a-year-ago-me could see me now. I was really in a dark place,” Gauff said.

“But I think I’ve grown a lot. I’m glad I used that moment to strive to get better. The next part of the season was the best I’ve ever had. That just shows bad moments don’t last forever.”

Last year’s Wimbledon was a tough experience for Gauff. Despite being seeded seventh, she faced a first-round exit after losing to Sofia Kenin with a score of 6-4, 2-6, 6-4.

Nevertheless, Gauff bounced back by winning the Washington Open and eventually the US Open, showcasing her resilience and determination.
