Gary Lineker makes Jack Grealish point in Man City selection dilemma with Jeremy Doku

Manchester City forward Jack Grealish scored his first goal of the Premier League season against Tottenham.

Gary Lineker has urged Manchester City star Jack Grealish to carry on playing his way amid an ongoing battle with Jeremy Doku for a regular starting place.

Grealish has struggled with form and injuries so far this season and has come in for criticism from some pundits for his performances. However, the England international opened his account for the campaign against Tottenham and laid down his own marker after replacing Doku on the left flank with 38 minutes to play.

Lineker was asked about £100million man Grealish by former City defender Micah Richards on the Stick to Football podcast in a role reversal for the pundits. He said: “Doku’s a handful, that’s for sure, but that goal will do Jack a lot of good for his confidence and it was a brilliant slide for the camera!

“You have to forget about the price tag. You’re worth what someone is prepared to pay for you.

“Overall he’s terrific. He keeps the ball and under certain circumstances he’s the perfect player to have, particularly when you’ve got a lead probably going into the last 10 or 15 minutes.

“He can keep the ball and he wins them free-kicks. He makes a lot of the right decisions.
