With the 2024 Olympic Games only a few weeks away, fans now have a clear idea of whether their favorite players will be competing at the quadrennial event. The race to the Olympics ends at the conclusion of Roland Garros, with ATP rankings being the main metric used for qualification.
The Olympic games will be held in Paris, France on the hallowed grounds of Roland Garros. The singles tournament will be contested by 64 players, of whom 56 will use their ATP ranking as of June 10th to determine their qualification. However, finishing in the Top 56 does not necessarily mean that a player will qualify or play at the tournament. Each country has limited entries in the tournament, capped at four of their best-ranked players.
Italian Jannik Sinner tops the list with 9525 points, as the newly-minted World No.1 finally displaced Novak Djokovic from the top spot. The Serbian’s historic reign came to an end after he sustained a knee injury at the French Open, which led to him withdrawing from the event. Djokovic sits in third place with 8360 points, although his Olympics participation is still in doubt as he races to recover from the devastating injury.
Spaniard Alcaraz sits between Sinner and Djokovic, as the new Roland Garros champion has accumulated 8580 points. Alcaraz defeated Alexander Zverev in five sets on Sunday to lift his maiden Roland Garros title, and third Grad Slam trophy overall. Zverev, who is the defending Olympic gold medalist, is in fourth place, with Daniil Medvedev rounding out the top five. Below is the complete table.
