Sinner has thus chosen to take part in the ATP 500 in Halle, in which he will naturally be the main seed: it will be the first tournament he will play as an ATP No.1. Jannik tried in these first days of training in Germany to immediately adapt to the fast surface.

“On the first day you have to do the movements on grass and it’s difficult to have immediate confidence, especially if you then have to play a first round against tennis players who have already played competitions on grass. They have a little more feeling, but this is a place where they believed in me, they gave me a wild card in the previous phase in their time, so I’m happy to be back here and hopefully I can show some good tennis right from the start. start,” he explained.

On his path first Tallon Griekspoor and then there could probably be Roman Safiullin, Stefanos Tsitsipas or Jan-Lennard Struff. Sinner will meet all strong athletes on this surface, with their serve and with other tournaments behind them.

“It will be very difficult. In general he plays well on grass. He serves and volleys very well. It will be a very complicated match but I can’t wait to play it. It will be a good test for me, my first match on grass, to see what my level will be. The atmosphere is simply fantastic, I will try to enjoy it to the fullest,” he told, talking about his first opponent in Halle and his possible path in the tournament.
