Luke Littler has been in touch with a key figure over a potential boxing bout.
Teenage darts sensation Luke Littler has exchanged messages with Misfits Boxing promoter Mams Taylor after calling out a TikTok star. The prospect of Littler, 17, stepping into the squared circle appeared a reality in May when he declared he would ‘love to’ have a bout, revealing he took part in boxing training sessions as a youngster.
And Littler also chose to call out social media influencer Beavo, fuelling speculation of an unlikely clash between the two.
Beavo, real name Brandon Beavis, responded by goading Littler, telling him to ‘get in the gym’ before he considered fighting.
And now Taylor, who in June 2021 partnered with KSI and Wasserman Promotions to create the Misfits organisation, has revealed he immediately contacted Littler after learning of the spat. He also claimed ‘the Nuke’ had already attended one of the company’s shows.
“I actually messaged him right away as soon as I got wind of that,” Taylor told talkSPORT.com. “Lovely guy, he has come to a Misfits event before. I think he will come to Dublin later this year.”
However, the musician admitted that Littler performing in the ring was a prospect for later down the line, and not while he’s on a meteoric rise in the sport of darts. “He was like ‘I’m just having banter I don’t want to fight yet’,” added Taylor.
“But he said ‘you never know in the future’. Of course the door is always be open. It is right on brand with what Misfits Boxing is about. So it would be great to have him in the future.”
Indeed, Littler agreeing to step into a boxing ring anytime soon would raise the blood pressure of darts chiefs. He’s currently the most marketable star in the sport, having last month become the youngest ever winner of the Premier League Darts crown.
He’s also been credited for attracting a new generation of followers to televised events, ever since his explosive debut at the PDC World Championship in December. Littler went all the way to the final at Ally Pally and was only denied a fairytale tournament win by Luke Humphries.
On Saturday, he added the latest title to his collection, beating Rob Cross to win the Polish Darts Masters. So a potential boxing injury, especially to his hands, would be viewed as disastrous by the PDC.
Littler has also revealed himself to be a huge fan of the WWE, regularly posting wrestling content to his social media followers. And at the US Darts Masters in New York this month, he ditched his customary walk-in song in favour of the theme music used by current WWE champion Cody Rhodes.
