The actress admits she didn’t feel she was adequate
Released in 2013, ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ was one of the biggest hits of the year and, in fact, led to the Oscar nomination of its director, Martin Scorsese, and two of its actors, Jonah Hill and Leonardo DiCaprio. The film also featured the likes of 32-year-old Margot Robbie, who admitted her surprise insecurity about her physique.
The film was one of the first big hits of her career and was not yet known to the general public en masse.
“I was terrified that people would see the movie and think, ‘Ugh! She’s not good enough,” she said in an interview with Wonderland some time after the film’s release.
Her insecurity was a problem
One of the drawbacks, according to the Australian, is that she felt she was being “sexy at an accelerated pace”. And although she is now considered one of the most beautiful women on the planet, Margot Robbie was not confident in her physique to get into the skin of her character, Naomi Lapaglia, who is in a relationship with Jordan Belfort (Leonardo DiCaprio‘s character).
“I was very conscious that the script said, ‘The sexiest blonde ever’. Clearly I’m not the sexiest blonde in history,” she confessed in the aforementioned outlet.
And despite this, Martin Scorsese‘s film sparked her rise to fame, which was consolidated with projects such as ‘Focus’ (2015) or her role as Harley Quinn in ‘Suicide Squad’ and the DC Comics universe.
