The Russian and the American had beautiful words for their young Italian colleague
Jannik Sinner has captured the sympathy of fans and opponents for many of his qualities that go beyond the tennis court. Kindness, humility, simplicity, work ethic, confidentiality and, at the same time, sympathy. The young Italian, new ATP No.1, has frankly achieved an extraordinary result, making himself appreciated by the media, fans and opponents. A result that is never banal, especially if he is the leader of the men’s ranking.
And this is echoed by the words of Daniil Medvedev who, in the last year, has often faced the young Italian, sharing with him the tennis court, the changing rooms and moments of sporting life that happen to athletes.
“He is playing very well, especially since he won Toronto. He has played final after final, won the Australian Open, Miami, gaining many points. He is deservedly number one. I never changed my mind about him: I knew that he was a top player and that at some point he could get 1st place and he did it. For me nothing has changed, but for him it is certainly a great result, I can only be happy for him. He’s one of the nicest and kindest guys on the Tour,” he explained.
Christopher Eubanks also expressed his appreciation for the 22-year-old Italian, explaining: “One of the nicest and kindest guys in the locker room. He talks to everyone, from tennis players to professionals. He then he plays in a really fun way to watch. He’s actually one of my favorite players to watch because of his ball-striking, his talent, his skill and his ability to defend himself. He does so many things well, and then you add to that the knowledge that he’s a good guy. It’s easy to root for him.”
Sinner reached the 1st position in the ATP ranking a few weeks ago, establishing a record that has never happened in the history of our tennis. The new world number 1, however, is different from all the others. An extremely simple boy who has never changed, even with the inevitable fame that overwhelmed him with the success he achieved, and this is the reason that led his colleagues to praise his human depth.
