Is Coco Gauff shifting her priorities to manage her workload? The 20-year-old American is one of the consistent performers in women’s tennis at the moment. Tennis fans are often used to seeing her making a deep run into the tournaments. But competing across singles and doubles events altogether can be a bit hectic and challenging for the body. Reflecting on the same after her SF loss in the singles event in Paris Gauff said, “I really want to win a doubles Slam. So just, I don’t want to say close that chapter of my career. But’s something I feel like once I do it, I don’t know if I’ll continue to chase more. I’m not saying I won’t play doubles.” Now, she has won the title already! What’s next?
Coco Gauff and Katerina Siniakova recently outclassed the Italian duo, Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini in a two-set thriller to win the 2024 French Open doubles title. This win marked the first Grand Slam doubles title for the American. Now, the question is how much doubles does she find herself playing in after the Olympics this year? Replying to this question from an interviewer, Gauff said, “I don’t really know, it’s kind of a feeling thing. I initially thought I would this year if everything went perfect, I thought I was just going to play Roland Garros and not play Wimbledon. Because I was going to play with an American who I’d play with at the Olympics. But maybe I’ll play Wimbledon now.”

She said she still wants to play the Grand Slam events. However, Gauff revealed that probably she won’t play much of the doubles event in the 1000s and 500s in the upcoming days. However, she added, “I’ll definitely be playing in Berlin. Just coz I need as much as grass time as I can get before Wimbledon. But maybe the US Open swing will be a lot less.” Coco Gauff stressed the fact that with this win in Paris, she’s now well-motivated to do well at Wimbledon as well. It’s just the mental aspect of the game that arises from long weeks that makes her mostly concerned.
Coco Gauff is a former world number one in doubles. She has won 9 doubles titles so far in her career including the recent one in Paris. Her best record at the doubles event in Wimbledon has been reaching the third round. She’ll be now looking forward to making yet another long run on the grass and carrying forward the momentum in fulfilling her “biggest dream“.

But before that, there is a huge task ahead of her. “One of my biggest dreams is to win a gold medal, and frankly, I think it’s one of the things that it doesn’t matter what event it’s in. A gold medal is a gold medal, where I feel like the Grand Slams is definitely way cooler to win a singles one than a doubles one,” Gauff said in a previous interview.
