Pep Guardiola made a retirement claim when asked about Manchester City’s sensational treble-winning campaign last season.
Man City bagged an impressive haul of silverware last season as they won the Premier League, FA Cup and the Champions League.
Guardiola will be on the hunt for more trophies this season, but a treble is not on his mind as he touched on how difficult it will be to repeat last season’s triumph.
Ahead of Manchester City’s game at Aston Villa, former Blues defender Gael Clichy pressed the Spaniard on his approach for the 2023/24 campaign, having bagged three trophies last season.
Underlining the difficulty in winning the treble, the 52-year-old seemingly joked he’d retire if he repeated last season’s incredible achievement.
“If we win the treble this season, I’ll retire. That’s for sure,” he said. “That’s on TV, Pep,” replied Eniola Aluko.

Guardiola then referenced Sir Alex Ferguson’s treble at Manchester United in 1999 before revealing his methods for this campaign.
Man City head into their clash against Villa occupying third place in the league, with 30 points on the board.
On titles, he added: “In September, October, November to be thinking about the titles, forget about it! It’s a big mistake!”
