Fans of Novak Djokovic will be delighted to learn that the former World No.1 will be representing his country of Serbia at the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris, according to the Serbian Olympic Committee.
After suffering a devastating injury at the recently concluded French Open, Djokovic revealed he had torn the meniscus in his right knee. The 24-Grand Slam champion quickly underwent surgery, putting his participation at Wimbledon and the Olympics in doubt.
Djokovic making rapid recovery
The 37-year old was quick to resume training after undergoing a successful surgery. Initially spotted walking with crutches, Djokovic shed the walking aid and was seen running and performing stretches soon afterwards. The Serbian’s participation at Wimbledon is still in doubt, but it has been confirmed that he will be competing at the Olympic Games. The tennis event at the Olympics begins on July 26, 2024.
Despite accumulating numerous accolades and breaking almost every tennis record, an accomplishment continues to elude the Serbian. Djokovic has never won a gold medal at the Olympic Games, with his best performance being a bronze medal performance at the 2008 Games in Beijing.
