The tennis player from Constanța, Simona Halep, will not be able to participate in the 2024 edition of the Olympic Games, which will be held in France, in Paris, between July 26 and August 11.
Former world number 1, now on the 1,136th WTA position, Simona (32 years old) did not meet the criterion related to the place in the ranking, so her wish to perform at the 2024 Olympic Games will not be fulfilled.
The ITF has announced the players eligible for the Olympic Games, and the athlete from Constanta is not among them. According to the Romanian Tennis Federation, which responded to a request from Antena 3 CNN, Simona did not benefit from the protected ranking (10th place, which she occupied before she was suspended).
Simona Halep returned to the court, in Cluj-Napoca, playing in the Sports Festival, alongside other world tennis stars.
With Raluca Olaru in the referee’s chair, Simona Halep, Steffi Graf, Andre Agassi, Justin Gimelstob, Andrei Pavel and Horia Tecău delighted the audience with two demonstrative doubles matches, interspersed duels and moments of dialogue with the stars in the stands, among which – Ilie Năstase, Ion Ţiriac and Virginia Ruzici counted, FRT mentions.

Thank you for all the support these two years. They were hard, but today is good” , Simona said, according to the official FRT website.
