Former WTA player Chris Evert made a big prediction about Iga Swiatek and the upcoming Wimbledon Championships, admitting that she could see her win it.
Swiatek is among the favorites to win most events, but not a lot of people would put her up among the favorites to win Wimbledon. Her ability to win it is not in question, but her track record on grass isn’t the best, and there are a couple of players who might be considered better players on the surface.
Still, there are people who believe that she can get it done, such as Mats Wilander, who wouldn’t be shocked to see her win. Another former legend who thinks it’s possible is Evert, who spoke to ESPN about the upcoming event and admitted that she could see it happening.
“I don’t know. I wonder where her head is right now as far as Wimbledon. It certainly is the most challenging of all the majors because of several things. Her sweet spot again is shoulder high where she hits her winners. She doesn’t win a lot of free points with her serve, and that is going to hurt her as well. She’s the fastest player out there.”
