Iga Swiatek has finally fulfilled her promise to catch Taylor Swift’s latest world tour entitled The Eras Tour when the popstar brought her show to Liverpool’s Anfield stadium this week.
Swiatek had been adamant about getting out to see the show, revealing in January that she would try to make a plan to see the show outside of Poland.
The World No 1 wanted to be able to blend in with the crowd and just experience the concert as a fan and felt like she couldn’t do that in Warsaw where Taylor Swift will perform in August.
Swiatek was moved to tears of delight only days after winning her fifth career Grand Slam singles title at Roland Garros, as she got to take in a performance from someone who inspires her greatly.
The Polish star has long been a Swiftie and has let that be known in the past even picking out the albums Folklore and Evermore as her all-time favourites.
Swiatek posted of short video of herself dancing to Shake it Off at the concert.
To cap things off, Swiatek also received a personal note from Taylor Swift congratulating her on winning the French Open.
“I’m dead,” Swiatek posted to social media Friday a tear-filled selfie; in the image she can be seen holding the note from Taylor Swift.
“Yes, I cried many times during the show. Yes, it was incredible. You are amazing @taylorswift13.”
The five-time Grand Slam winner feels that the latest album from her idol has been quite empowering for her claiming that since she first played through the artists 11th studio album in April she has been on another level. Swiatek has been in great touch winning consecutive titles in Madrid, Rome and Paris.
She relates songs about heartbreak to tennis and said recently that “I Can Do It with a Broken Heart,” which tells the story of Taylor Swift’s tumultuous state of mind when the Eras Tour began — spoke to her on a different level.
“Well, tennis only broke my heart a couple of times, so I can relate sometimes,” Swiatek said. “Tennis can be heartbreaking, and then you have to go on court and play again.”
Swiatek has pulled out of next week’s Berlin Open having played a lot of tennis over the last nine weeks. She will get back into action in England in the coming weeks as she aims to win her first Wimbledon title.
