Serbia’s legendary tennis star Novak Djokovic has joked to Russia’s Daniil Medvedev about testing his ‘knee’ after participating in an exhibition match. The 37-year-old is often regarded as the greatest player in the history of men’s tennis in the singles category in the Open era, having won as many as 24 Grand Slam titles.
Djokovic is going through a difficult season where he is yet to play in the final of any event. That streak continued in his most recent appearance in the French Open, where he was forced to withdraw from the mega-event just before the start of the quarterfinal against Norway’s Casper Ruud because of a knee injury. Because of that withdrawal, he also lost the top spot in the ATP rankings.
Djokovic recently returned to the court after having surgery on the same knee. He participated in a practice match against Medvedev at the Giorgio Armani Tennis Classic, where he came second with a score of 6-3, 6-4.
During the contest, Russian tennis put on an impressive show and made the Serbian legendary tennis star run on multiple occasions. In a video released on the social media platform X — previously known as Twitter — Djokovic can be heard saying to Medvedev, “You really want to test my knee today, right?”
Djokovic will start his Wimbledon campaign against the Czech Republic’s Vit Kopriva. The Belgrade-born star has a fabulous record while playing at Wimbledon. He has lifted the title seven times, the joint second-best in the competition’s history, only behind former world number one Switzerland’s Roger Federer, who lifted the title eight times.

Djokovic was extremely impressive in the last year’s competition where he finished as the runner-up after losing in the final to Spain’s young tennis sensation Carlos Alcaraz in a five-set thriller with a score of 1–6, 7–6(8–6), 6–1, 3–6, 6–4.
