Jannik Sinner visited his hometown before Wimbledon
A special dedication, to that goal he has always chased and finally chased. Jannik Sinner has officially become the number one player in world tennis, the 29th in history since the Atp ranking has existed.
The Italian entered a small circle of racquet sports legends at age 22, thanks to the semifinal he reached at Roland Garros and Novak Djokovic’s simultaneous withdrawal from the Paris Slam due to a knee injury.
The Italian tennis player now looks down on everyone, with a comforting 900-point lead over Carlos Alcaraz, fresh winner of his third career major. A gap that will likely allow the Italian to retain the top spot until the Us Open, as the Spanish rival will defend the 2,000 points earned last year at Wimbledon, where Sinner stopped in the semifinals, beaten by the 24-time Serbian slam champion.
In a post shared on his own social channels, in partnership with Nike, the Italian published an emotional message addressed directly to that first position he has chased so much and which, as of Monday, has become a reality.

Jannik Sinner visited his hometown of Sesto Pusteria to celebrate his achievement of becoming the new world number one in the ATP rankings.
During a long interview with Fanpage.it, Paolo Bertolucci talked about Jannik Sinner’s current status: “Sinner has to learn to manage certain situations in the match. For example, in the semifinals I screamed in front of the TV when I saw him chasing lobs, on which you could clearly see that there was no chance of recovery: those things kill you and cut your legs off in the last sets.”
Bertolucci also added: “Alcaraz is more physically structured, while Jannik is not yet at the top. Sinner, however, is more pragmatic. He comes out of Paris well, because in a precarious condition, he was the only one who seriously challenged Alcaraz. When he is 100 percent there will be fun to be had.”
