James Wade once again found himself at the centre of controversy after launching into an explosive rant about the crowd following his victory over Austrian favourite Mensur Suljovic at the Austrian Darts Open.
The veteran English star produced a brilliant display on stage to comfortably defeat Suljovic 6-2, but instead of focusing purely on his performance afterwards, Wade made headlines for his furious comments aimed at sections of the crowd inside the arena.
The former World Matchplay champion accused supporters of being disrespectful throughout the match and admitted the atmosphere had frustrated him more than the challenge posed by his opponent.
“They weren’t respectful,” Wade said bluntly after the contest.
The 43-year-old looked visibly irritated during several moments of the match as loud whistles, boos and chants echoed around the venue whenever he stepped up to throw.
